In the Spring of 2008, several students at Plattsburgh State discovered a place where they would be accepted for who they were, a place where they belonged.

Upon learning more about Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc., Founders Carina Diaz, Genesys Nuñez, and Nadera Bhuayan cemented their commitment to the Sorority and began the long journey of petitioning the Sorority to establish a colony at Plattsburgh State.

The expansion process was long and challenging and many women dropped out of the interest group.  However, the women who left made room for Founders Dana Sporbert and Habiba Braimah.  The interest group was named Beautiful Leaders of Social Serenity Overcoming Multicultural Stereotypes (BLOSSOMS), in honor of the renewed birth of a powerful group of women.

BLOSSOMS set out to convince the Inter-Sorority Association (ISA) that Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc. would benefit the campus and that BLOSSOMS was qualified to spearhead the process.  The ISA voted and approved the official recognition of BLOSSOMS on campus.

Having lost the majority of their interest group to the rigors of founding a new sorority colony, BLOSSOMS launched a major recruitment campaign during which the interest group gained the devotion of Founder Larissa Pamen.

By the end of Fall 2009, the Sorority had approved expansion to Plattsburgh State and the founding line had been chosen through a rigorous selection process.  Over the course of the following semester the founding members pledged their lives to Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc.

The six beautiful butterflies who completed the journey are Carina Raquel Diaz, Nadera Nasreen Bhuayan, Larissa Nkouami Pamen, Habiba Tani Braimah, Genesys Nohely Nunez, and Dana Michele Francis Sporbert.
On April 10, 2010, over two years after the journey began, the ILLUSTRIOUS Alpha Iota Chapter of Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc. was established.
